Ensure Proper Ventilation: Put the computer in a location where it can properly ventilate itself. Before setting up a fan profile my top card would not respond to high temperatures properly and would let itself go to 90c, woudnt even kick up the fan. This allows my GTX 470 to stay under 60-70C when in heavy use. In retrospect I wish I'd just blown out the dust first and seen how much of a difference that made, before changing the thermal paste. set a custom fan profile with AB or some other program. it runs hot on a lot of games.

Dust can build up over time and acts as an insulator, which can make computer parts run hotter than they should if they were clean.
