One way around this would be to use another PC, copy the files from the DVD's to USB flash sticks or an external HD. Windows 7 has installers for almost every brand of burners. HELP? I am one of those people who become attached to their computers and I don't want a new one. You will need to get the same type as fitted to your pc from new, you can get the details from your 'Device manager'. here

WOW, this was such an easy fix although I would never have been able to do it without your guideing steps. Long time missing... In such cases we cannot offer you any further solution. No CD/DVD in My Computer, so went into device manager - found CD/DVD (not enabled) Enabled DC/DVD drive, closed device manager. Be sure you have backups of your important data before carrying in, as it is possible the hard drive could be replaced and they will do it without warning you.
